Animal Sounds
So, I think we're all just about well again, but I still haven't had time to upload any new pictures to the computer. So, instead, I'll list some new things that Sophie has been doing lately:
- The biggest thing is that she loves to make animal noises! She makes monkey noises that are usually linked to seeing or playing with one of her stuffed monkeys. She also makes a mooing noise that sounds more like "mmmmmm," a meow noise that she reserves for the cats, and a barking noise that sounds like "ah." (She does this one when she hears a dog barking.) It's a lot of fun to see her associate sounds with animals or objects.
- She's crawling around like crazy and sits up on her knees.
- The other day, she pulled herself up into a standing position in her crib. I haven't seen her do it anywhere else yet, though, so I think it was as much as a surprise to her as it was to me that she was able to do it!
- She loves taking walks. The last few days here have been beautiful, so we've been able to get outside. She jabbers away the entire time and is curious about everything. She doesn't really like the feel of grass, though.
- She's been eating a lot of table food. Her favorites so far are avocado, mozarella cheese, tuna, and bologna. She'll tolerate broccoli, cauliflower and tomatos, and likes peaches, but finds them hard to pick up. She likes the taste but not the texture of pears. And she hates, hates, hates bananas! She'll put it in her mouth (I think she thinks it's a piece of cheese), but will gag on it and spit it out almost immediately. We've also given her tastes of our food, and she really likes bagels and brownies.
- At her ear infection appointment, she weighed 20 lbs. 13 ounces. Hopefully, they'll measure her length next week at our follow up appointment. To put this into perspective, my coworker's son, who is 3 months older than Sophie, was weighed yesterday and was 21 lbs. (and he's not a small boy!). The funny thing is that Sophie is definitely not chubby by any stretch of the imagination. People always call her "petite," but she's just so tall that she looks a lot smaller than she really is.
Well, that's it for now. I'm going to try really, really hard to post some pictures soon!
