New Milestones

I was going to post some Christmas pictures today, but I thought that I would catch you up on new things that Sophie has been doing lately instead.

1) She waves. (This is sporadic--she knows how to, but she doesn't always do it on command.)
2) She claps. She loves clapping, and now most of the time, if we just say "Yeah," she'll smile and clap.
3) She sits up without any help or vigilance on our parts. She's been sitting up for a while, but now we don't have to lurk around making sure she doesn't fall over and hit her head (but we do have to lurk to make sure she doesn't find that last hidden pine needle from Christmas to eat!)
4) She feeds herself Cheerio-like cereal.
5) She lunges forward from a sitting position and gets herself into crawling position, but hasn't quite figured out the crawling part yet. I think that part of it is because both at home and daycare the floors are wood, so her little knees slide out from under her. I'm convinced that if she were on carpet, she'd be crawling already.
6) She can sit up on her own. Last night she pushed herself up from her belly to a sitting position for the first time.
7) She has learned to make noise with her hands and things she is holding. She likes to hit tables, hands, other surfaces with her hands and likes to bang her toys together to make noise.

So, needless to say, our little Sophie isn't so little anymore! (In fact, we just moved her up to her 12-month clothes today!)
