35-Week Appointment

Yesterday I went in for my follow-up appointment from last week so they could check my weight again. During this past week, I have been diligently eating as much as I could stuff into myself, and it paid off...just a little too much! I actually gained 5 pounds in one week! So apparently I need to find a happy medium between the two weeks.

Next week starts our home-stretch appointments. We'll go in every week and they'll do a cervical exam (I know, I know, TMI) to see how I'm progressing. I have been having some Braxton-Hicks contractions, but mostly just slight cramping every once in a while. My body seems to be getting warmed up for the big day...

Baby Shower

I forgot to mention below that we had our baby shower this past weekend. Some friends of ours threw it for us, and it was a really nice, relaxed, co-ed shower. So it was really more of a party/socializing time than a traditional baby shower. We had a good time and got lots of goodies for Sophie. I'm sure she'll appreciate having clothes to wear and toys to play with when she arrives! Thanks to everyone who came!

34-Week Appointment

I had my 34-week appointment yesterday. All seems well with Sophie--right now they just check her heart rate, which was about the same as it always is. She's been rolling around a whole lot, too, so she's active like they want her to be.

I lost about a 1/2 pound, so they are making me go back next week to check my weight. If it doesn't improve, I'll have to start drinking supplement shakes. Figures...when I'm not pregnant, I can't keep the weight off, and when I am and need to gain weight, I lose it!

Comments Moderation

I've noticed that a few people have posted the same comments twice. When you comment and it doesn't show up right away, don't worry. We have comment moderation turned on, so I have to approve all comments. This takes a while since it e-mails me when a new comment is made. Then I have to go in and manually accept it. We've done this to avoid spam and people we don't really know since this is not as public of a blog as many are. Thanks for your patience!

Ultrasound Images - 30 weeks

We've finally scanned these photos, taken almost three weeks ago. Again, they're the "4D" images that are remarkably clear, though they sometimes make Sophie look like she's missing a hand. We were really excited to see how much she looks like a baby already and can't wait to see her when she arrives in a little over a month.

32-Week Appointment

Today we had our 32-week appoinment. The appointments up until week 36 are going to be pretty routine...blood pressure check, weight check, fetal heart beat. Sophie's heart beat was 156. Everything looked good. I've gained 11 pounds during my pregnancy so far, and the nurse said that most people would be very jealous about this. But those people didn't lose 8 1/2 pounds in the first four months because they were so nauseous that they couldn't eat, either. So there's a trade off--you can be sick for months and not gain much weight or gain a bunch and enjoy food. After experiencing the first one, I think I'd take enjoying food. :-)
