30-Week Appointment

We just had our 30-week doctor's appointment, and all is well. They gave us our last ultrasound (unless there are any complications between now and our due date). I'll try to post those pictures as soon as we scan them in.

We did find out that she now weighs 3 lb. 14 oz. Apparently, babies approximately double their weight in the last ten weeks, so it looks like she'll be about an 8-pounder when she's born. All of her organs, limbs, etc. look good, and she's still a girl! (You never know if they were hiding little boy parts the first time they check.) They said that her legs and arms look long, and her head's facing down, ready to come out and greet the world.

A Soccer Player in the Making

All this time I thought that Sophie was such a good little girl and didn't want to hurt her mommy...

I was wrong. Last night she started kicking me in the ribs in the middle of the night. I've always heard other women talking about how painful this can be, but never really believed them. I believe them now! She's also taking to pushing as hard as she can on the side of my belly. She's going to be a strong one!

Also, because a friend of ours had her baby recently (and it came a little early), Ian and I decided to buy a couple of things that would be absolutely necessary if Sophie decided to make an early appearance. We bought the car seat and the pack 'n' play (which will serve as a crib until we move to a bigger place). So now if she decides to make an early appearance, we'll be able to get her home from the hospital and have a place for her to sleep! Thanks mom and dad for the pack 'n' play!

I'm Starting to Look Pregnant

Today I had my first unsolicited "Congratulations." Up till now, I've noticed strangers looking at my belly as if they can't tell if I'm pregnant or have just had too many beers in the past month. Today a construction worker at Panera took the plunge and told me "Congratulations" as he passed. Woohoo!

Ultrasound - 20 weeks

Here are our most recent pics of Sophie (taken about 8 weeks ago). We'll get our next ultrasound in about 2 weeks.

She's a girl (that's where the arrow's pointing)!

That's her little arm raised in victory!

Ultrasound - 12 weeks

Ultrasound - 6 weeks

Not much to see here, but this was our first ultrasound. I think she looked like a little peanut!

28-Week Doctor's Visit

Yesterday we had our 28-week visit, and all seems well. I had my glucose test (mmm...orange-flavored glucose), and if they don't call me today, I'm not in danger of gestational diabetes for now. So far, no call. Blood pressure was good and Sophie's little heartbeat was strong. We could hear it speeding up and slowing down, and the nurse practitioner said that this was a good sign because it was a sign of a maturing heart.

We now start visiting the doctor every two weeks, and they'll do another ultrasound during our next visit (March 20th). I'll try to post any good pictures we get.

We've finally taken some pictures of the belly. These pictures are at almost 28 weeks:
