Baptism Pictures

Sophie's baptism went off without a hitch (way back on May27th), even if she was a little squirmy during the service. She seemed to really enjoy the baptism itself. During the liturgy part, she kept trying to "honk" my nose, and after she was doused with water she wanted more! (She kept pointing at the water and then to her head.) And finally, when the minister welcomed her into God's family and everyone clapped, she perked up and beamed at the crowd--she seemed to know the applause was for her!

Here she is in her beautiful dress that Grandma Schmidt made for her:

At the Zoo

Video of Sophie's birthday is still in the editing phase, and I hope to get to a DVD I've been planning that picks up at about the 3 month point from the last DVD sometime this summer. But in the meantime, here's a brief video of our trip to the Cincinnati Zoo last Saturday. Enjoy!

Sophie and her New Toys

We have lots of pictures of Sophie playing with all of the new toys she received for her birthday, so here are a few of my favorites:

Sophie's expression in this one is pretty funny, but she's actually dancing to the music of her little chair. She finally figured out how to sit on it by herself this morning (but still thinks it's fun to use as a step ladder to the coffee table!)

Messy Face

Sophie has been a really messy eater lately, so I thought I'd post a couple of post-dinner pictures from the last week. I think this one is the result of a mixture of avocado and apricot:

And although her face isn't that messy, her mohawk was created by something sticky in her hands (she did this to herself amazingly enough!).

Birthday Party

Here are some pictures from Sophie's birthday party in the park. When we sang "Happy Birthday," she seemed a little confused as to why we were all singing to her! (By the way, I never did get the candle lit--it was too breezy!)

While some of us were setting up for the party, she played on the playground. Sophie loves the slide, and will usually go down by herself as long as there's someone there to catch her!

It looks like she's yelling something to someone in this picture...I wonder what it could be???

She loves her stuffed animals!

Sophie's First Visit to the Zoo

This weekend, on a whim, we took Sophie to the Cincinnati Zoo. We had been trying to plan a trip to the zoo for a while, but there was always something going on or the weather wasn't good enough. On Thursday, we realized that it was supposed to be a beautiful day in Cincinnati on Saturday, so we packed up the car and went! Sophie seemed to like it, although she was bored by the animals that didn't move. We also waited till the end of the day to go see the monkeys, and by the time we got over there, she was too tired to be overly excited by them. They did seem to be her second favorite exhibits, though. Strangely enough, the alligators and turtles (in the same exhibit) were her hands-down favorites.

In this picture, you can see Ian and Sophie looking at some monkeys:

Any resemblance???

Pre-Birthday Pictures

Since Ian and I didn't take very many still pictures during her birthday extravaganza, we've been waiting until we received pictures from others to post some. (Ian did shoot about 80 minutes of video, which obviously, is going to take some time to edit and convert.) Thanks to Grandpa Wilson, we have quite a few stills to post now. I'll keep posting the best ones as I get them from everyone else as well.

These are some fun ones from the first couple of days before her birthday party. Do you think she enjoyed all of the attention???

12-Month Doctor Visit

Ian took Sophie to her 12-month doctor visit today, and the results are in: we're raising an amazon!

Her measurements are as follows:

Length=32 inches
Weight=23.4 pounds
Head Circumference=46.75 cm

According to babycenter.com, her measurements in percentiles are as follows:

Length = above the 100th percentile
Weight = between 75th and 90th percentile
Head Circumference = between 75th and 90th percentile

She seems to be doing great. They did an anemia test, and iron level was a little lower than they would have liked, but not in any range that was considered "low." We'll feed her more apricots, plums, prunes and meat, and they'll check her levels again at 15 months.

We'll try to post some pictures from her birthday/baptism extravaganza tomorrow!
