Sophie, the Photographer

Sophie decided that she wanted to push the "butt" (which is her word for "button") on the camera at Thanksgiving, so here are her pictures that she took. Mommy or daddy held the camera while she pushed the button. As you can tell, her picture-taking abilities improved drastically by her 3rd or 4th picture!

Our 2nd Thanksgiving in Milton

We journeyed on to Milton the day after Thanksgiving and had our second Thanksgiving celebration and also celebrated Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Wilson since they'll be in London for Christmas.

Ian took Sophie outside to play a little (and as you can see, there was a little snow, but not enough to have fun in). She enjoyed looking at their trees and plants. I actually took the second picture from a big window inside of the house. Sophie was excited to look up and see mommy in the window.

Word to the wise...Sophie doesn't really know what to do with a candy cane. I'm not sure what she thought it was, but she kept trying to put it under her chin and hold it there like a bib or something:

Aunt Karen gave us a balloon-animal making kit, and Grandpa made Sophie a hat. Mommy tried to make her a heart, but the balloon popped...

Here's Sophie playing with her new Tonka dumptruck. She mainly puts her stuffed animals in it to ride around in.

Thanksgiving in La Crosse

We made the trek up to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving, and although Sophie had a cold, she was a trooper. She had a great time with all of the family and got all the attention she could ever hope to get!

We spent Thanksgiving day up in La Crosse with Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt. Here's Sophie showing her love to Grandma and Uncle James:

She had a good time playing with her cousin Ayden, although eventually, he found our video camera more interesting (or rather, seeing himself in the video camera--I think he's going to be a movie star)!

And even in Wisconsin, Sophie couldn't help showing off her Tar Heel pride:

Grandma Schmidt got Sophie a little stroller for Christmas. She had a blast pushing her CareBear, Mimi, around in it.

Carrots and Thanksgiving

Here are a couple of pictures that Ian pulled out of some video we had from Thanksgiving. Both, I think, are very cute.

As for carrots, Ian alluded to Sophie (not) eating them in the last post. Last night I spent an hour feeding her, trying to get her to eat the carrots! At one point, I switched to peas, hoping that it was just the carrot taste she didn't like, but the peas got the same reaction. The one thing that Sophie doesn't know is that the only person that's more stubborn than she is is her mommy! :-) Keep your fingers crossed that she starts liking her veggies soon...

Thanksgiving video #2

As promised, here's the second Thanksgiving video. Expect more photos tomorrow, and hopefully another video this weekend.

Sophie had her 6-month appointment yesterday. She's in great shape, 27 1/4" long and 17 lbs. 9 oz. Since her last visit had her at 27" long, we think maybe they mismeasured a little that time. She's still in the 95th percentile for height for her age. She got two regular immunization shots and her first flu shot. It was tough, but after a little crying she was back to her regular cheery self.

The doctor cleared Sophie for eating real food, too, so we TRIED babyfood carrots last night . . . you'll appreciate waiting for me to edit the video of that experience to see how much Sophie loves carrots right now.

Thanksgiving video #1

I've got two videos left to edit that come before this one (of Sophie's first trip to California and her trip to Baltimore), but we've been working a little in the vein of a Sophie Advent calendar lately, so I've decided to go ahead and post this first video from Thanksgiving today. Another will follow tomorrow, and then the others I mentioned above!

More Thanksgiving Pics

Well, obviously I didn't post "more pictures tomorrow"! We've been super busy, and Sophie's been such a good baby through all of our end-of-the-semester parties/meetings/shopping! We're very lucky that she goes with the flow and is so good natured!

Here are some pictures of Sophie with her Daddy, who she loves to play with!

Reading her new book from Grandpa and Grandma Wilson:

Sophie was grabbing the pacifier from Ian's mouth. She thought it was a fun game:

Thanksgiving in Wisconsin

We spent Thanksgiving in Wisconsin, and Sophie had a great time! She was great during the car rides and loved playing with her grandparents and aunts, uncle and cousin. More pictures to come tomorrow!

Here's a picture with her Aunt Heather:

And a picture at the LaCrosse lights festival with Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt:
